Poros
30 NM southwest of Athens
Separated from the mainland by a mere 200m (656 ft) the island of Poros entices weekend tourists from Athens, charter yacht traffic, and the mega-yacht contingent as well.
Picturesque, green with pine forests, and rich in history, Poros is a great place to stop both for it’s main seaside port and it’s wonderful anchorages.
From as far back as the early Bronze Age through to the Greek Revolution of 1821, Poros has figured strongly in Greek history, particularly due to it’s strategic geographic location for both naval and other military activity.
Great food, cafes, and a fairly active night life, particularly during the busy summer months, keep us coming back to Poros with regularity. Two of our favorite tavernas and some of the best gelato around are both found within minutes of each other and an easy walk from the main port.
