Palea Epidavros
31 NM southwest of Athens
A small coastal town on the mainland of the Peloponnese conveniently located between the islands of Aegina and Poros, Palea Epidavros is generally known as the access point to the ancient theater of Epidaurus. Built in the 4th century BC the theater is one of the best preserved amphitheaters in the world. It seats between 14,000 and 15,000 spectators, has legendary acoustics, and is still in use today for the yearly “Athens and Epidaurus Festival”. Seeing a play here is a special experience that should not be missed if given the opportunity.
